Job Description:
Staff accountant is an entry-level position that enables a well qualified individual to gain experience in both the audit and/or tax practices of Williams Overman Pierce, LLP. This individual will work under close supervision by their engagement senior, supervisor, manager and/or partner.
Responsibilities include:
Assist in audit pre-planning, work papers, and client review
Learn how to develop relationships with client personnel
Perform engagements in an efficient manner to meet deadlines
Prepare financial statement reports and documentation supporting the firm’s opinion.
Prepare tax returns for individuals, corporations, and partnerships.
Provide tax planning and consulting for clients to help them achieve their goals.
Engage in tax research on a wide range of issues.
Follow tax compliance laws and discuss with clients as needed.
Requirements:
CPA or CPA Candidate
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
0-5 years recent public accounting experience
Effective communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels
Excellent organization skills and attention to detail
Positive attitude with desire to be an integral part of a team
Strong work ethic and desire to learn

Position: Tax Senior
Location: Raleigh, North Carolina
WILLIAMS OVERMAN PIERCE, LLP, a regional accounting and consulting firm with offices in Raleigh and Greensboro, currently has a position available in the Raleigh office for a Tax Senior. Our ideal candidate will possess 3+ years of experience in a public accounting tax environment. We are looking for a qualiified individual to focus on managing our individual tax process as well as review and prepare tax returns.
Responsibilities include:
Perform technical tax review of 1040s. Independently research tax issues. Supervise and train staff. Identify issues and recommend solutions on complex tax issues. Contact clients regarding tax issues. Assume tax preparation responsibilities for more complex 1040s as well as business returns. Manage the 1040 workflow process.
Requirements:
Minimum of 3 years of public accounting experience. Experience with ProsystemFx and a paperless work environment a plus. CPA and multistate tax return experience strongly preferred. Must be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.

Position: Tax Season Accountant
Location: Raleigh, North Carolina
WILLIAMS OVERMAN PIERCE, LLP, a regional accounting and consulting firm with offices in Raleigh and Greensboro, currently has a position available in the Raleigh office for a seasonal tax accountant. This seasonal position would be available from February through April, with potential for an extended term of employment. Our ideal candidate will possess 2+ years of experience in a public accounting tax environment, with a concentrated focus on preparation of corporate, partnership, and individual income tax returns.
Responsibilities include:
Preparation of federal and state corporate and partnership income tax returns, preparation of tax depreciation schedules, preparation of tax computations and deferred tax computations. Preparation of personal income tax returns, including multiple K-1 data entry. Must be able to multi-task as well as communicate well with clients.
Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years of public accounting experience. Through knowledge of the tax process. CPA and multistate tax return experience strongly preferred. QuickBooks knowledge preferred. Must be able to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
